"GP treatment"

My husband went to the Gps today, He never goes to the doctors and never complains if he is unwell so I knew he must be sick. He had terrible abdominal and back pain, with a very distended abdomen. Gp never got out of the chair, and told him it was IBS, no examination, no observations nothing, my husband asked to be referred to the hospital and was told that they can't do that! ! ! ..... how can a doctor diagnose from a chair without examining the patient? He is still very unwell but will not go back now.
