About: Royal Oldham Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

On 1st April I gave birth to my son, David. He was 8 weeks early so it was a worrying time, especially as I had to have an emergency cesaerean. Right from the moment I arrived on the ward (early hours of Monday morning) to when I was discharged, the staff were excellent! Every one of them introduced themselves and made myself and my husband feel relaxed.

David went down to special care and was looked after brilliantly. He was found to have a problem with his foodpipe and had to be tranferred to another hospital for surgery. The doctors explained everything superbly and the midwives and nurses were wonderful through such an emotional time.

I really can't praise them enough. Thank you so much for everything. You are all stars!

What could be improved

The building plumbing wasn't great. The sink kept bubbling and causing an eggy smell. I was scared the staff might think the smell was from me!

Thank you for takign the time to pass on the comments about staff, which we'll share with them. The Making It Better plan will see a new maternity block built at The Royal Oldham Hospital.
