Anything else?
My 88 year old mother has been in Whiston on wards 5c and 3d recently. Sadly on 5c she had £40 stolen from her handbag and on 3d £20 was stolen from her handbag. NHS England have listed 5c as one of 36 wards or departments out of over 5000 that people would not want to return to. Nothing is being done to prevent thefts. Perhaps the trust's chief executive could begin to think about initiatives that might catch offending staff. I tried 6 times today to get through to the security managers direct line number. No answer on each occasion and no voicemail for messages. A joke. As for dignity in care and respect for the individual needs of patients, it is rarely found. Nurses take an eternity to answer phones on all wards. Staff hide behind "confidentiality" as a means of avoiding communication with relatives. My mum has been in and out of Whiston for the last 5 years and nothing changes. I am a retired Senior Nurse myself so feel well qualified to make these observations.
