"Childrens Ward 27 Spetember 2013"

About: Burnley General Hospital

Anything else?

My teenage son was admitted for a small operation on his toe, which required him to have a general anaesthetic and this is quite a scary thing for both parent and child, but I needn't have worried at all. Upon arrival at 7.30am it was obvious the nurses and support staff were all incredibly suited to looking after children, the mood was jovial and light hearted which immediately reduced the levels of anxiety that some of the children were suffering from. One nurse in particular (she will know who she is and so probably will her colleagues) was incredibly funny and almost put on a comedic cabaret to the delight of all present. During our 6 hr stay on ward 27 the nurses were very helpful, considerate, informative and exceptionally caring towards my son, and whilst I am proud of all the gold medals that our Olympians won in the London Olympics last year, its the people that look after and care for us when we are ill and need medical help that deserve our adoration and respect and more importantly recognition for what they do. Its a tough job with long hours and stress levels beyond belief, but they greet you with a smile, and offer care to patients in such a selfless way they deserve a platinum plated gold medal each and every day they work. Well done Nurses and staff on Ward 27 at Burnley General Hospital, you are amazing people.
