"Waiting too long, everytime..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Anything else?

I am currently a patient of the fertility clinic at RPH. I have now had 4 outpatient appointments and every time I have attended the clinic has been running over 40 minutes late, the last 2 visits I waited over an hour and 15 minutes after my appointment time. On the most recent visit I then wasn't seen by my named consultant - whom I was scheduled to see - and can only assume that this was because there had been a few complaints in the waiting room and I imagine they were just trying to get things moving faster. After my consultation I went to the pharmacy only to find a 40 minute wait there and no option to have the prescription made up in the community. I am leaving this review now as I can no longer put this down to bad days or unforeseen emergencies - it happens everytime. I have tried to avoid this by making my appointments earlier in the day but twice my appointments have been cancelled and rearranged by the department. Given the demographics of the people using this service I really think that things need to be sorted - my husband and I lost a whole afternoon's work for this appointment (don't even get me started on the car parking!) I don't think anybody should have to waste hours in waiting rooms but when people are negotiating time off work it is especially frustrating. If the clinic could have texted to say they were running behind we could have left work later and not stressed so much about the parking. The clinical care is a slightly better picture but only marginally. I am very appreciative that the NHS will treat infertility as I appreciate that it is not a life threatening condition but I am not sure at the moment if this isn't all more stressful than the infertility!
