"Food provision for special requirements"

About: University Hospital Of North Tees / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

I was recently a patient on the special observation ward. The food was appalling and certainly not nutritious. Toast on a morning was like cardboard and toasted only on one side. Also the tomato soup was extremely spicy as was the corned beef hash and laced with onions. As a patient who had a new stoma and therefore needed to be aware of certain foods that could cause blockages etc, it appeared that there was no provision given for this type of surgery. Overall the meals do not cater for special dietary requirements therefore how does the hospital expect patients to recover?
