Anything else?
My mother has just, unfortunately died after a few days in hospital, but this was in no way due to the care both she and we received whilst she was there. She was 88, with serious heart and kidney problems anyway, and was admitted vie A&E on Monday evening, initially to ICU and then transferred to a private room on Frensham for her last couple of days, having been diagnosed with a perforated bowel, which was inoperable due to her other conditions. The attitude of all the staff we came into contact with was excellent, always caring to both her and to us, her family, and we can find no fault in any way with any of them, or with the hospital organisation in general. On her last night we were even provided with a mattress on the floor in her room so that my brother and nephew could stay overnight in reasonable comfort, and everything was done to keep her comfortable and as pain-free as possible in the circumstances. In addition, she was on Wisley Ward for a few days last month, with a different complaint, and again we were totally impressed with the attention to detail and cleanliness that was shown by all the staff, nursing and domestic, without any fuss, so that it was obviously regarded as routine and well-embedded into the work schedules. We cannot really single out any individual staff, but one member of staff on ICU on Tuesday night when I stayed all night, and the nurses on Frensham from when she was moved up there on Wednesday morning until she passed away this morning were kindness personified, and very supportive to the family in their time of trauma, so please pass this on to them.
