Exceptionally poor care

My Partner brought my baby son in to A&E at the Royal London Hospital in the early hours of September morning. He had suffered febrile convulsions/rigours, had a cold and temperature and was in a distressed state. After waiting to see a triage nurse my partner had to wait to see a Doctor. The Doctor assessed visually and took his temperature and heart rate. No blood or urine or other samples were taken for testing. My son was sent him home with no treatment plan or guidance. My partner felt that she had been treated as if she was over reacting and wasting the medical team's time.

On Sunday Evening/Early Monday morning my son again suffered the same symptoms and we took him to A&E at University College Hospital - the treatment we receive from the outset was outstanding. All staff took a genuine interest in his well being, we were listened to and my son was rapidly assessed including blood sample, nose and throat swabs and urine samples. These tests revealed an infection and he was immediately admitted on to the children's ward. He remained in Hospital till Wednesday suffering from an infection. The care we received at UCH was exemplary throughout - had we received the same level of care from the Royal London my son would have received treatment for the infection two days earlier and would not have suffered for as long. Your team would do well to visit UCH to see genuine care professionals at work who take an interest in patient care and outcomes. The delays in treatment undoubtedly caused unnecessary distress to my son, my partner and me - I am furious that a few simple checks could have avoided this situation and would like an expectation as to why a seemingly standard process was not followed.
