"I found the nursing staff very ..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

I found the nursing staff very helpfull and considerate, unfortunately the lack of staff let this hospital, staff and patients down.

What could be improved

The number of nursing staff is drastically low staff cannot give the attention to patients which is needed. Following an accident my elderly father spent 2 months in RPH. Visiting every day some times twice I have first hand experience of staff trying their best to care for high dependency patients, what I experienced at times made a traumatic time even worse. I actually felt I had to be there to make sure he was getting the attention he needed. I know that this is not a one off case and unless the staffing issues are resolved people will continue to be neglected when they need care the most.

High dependency patients, whether cared for on our critical care unit or on neurosurgery wards, receive round-the-clock care and attention from a wide range of highly skilled and qualified staff. They continually observe, monitor, intervene and support patients with differing conditions and needs. Patients will be prioritised but all will receive a high number of visits from medical, nursing and support staff who remain attentive to that’s person’s needs.

The Trust has also recently added additional nurses into our Neurological high-dependency wards.

We are sorry that on this occasion you felt that your expectations were not met. Please get in touch with us so that we can look into you case further.
