"Availibility of doctors"

About: NHS Bedfordshire CCG

(as the patient),

The surgery has been hitherto extremely good. However, recently the principal doctor is now only available two (yes, just two) days a week. I am a great believer that visiting a GP requires a personal relationship with one doctor, all the more so in the case of certain conditions which require an intimate knowledge of the patient.

As a secondary point, I believe that doctors of both sexes should generally be available for consultation, and two days a week for the only male doctor does not seem reasonable.

I have been extremely impressed by this surgery to date, so this latest news is very disappointing. I would ask the practice to explain why they are now only able to offer a certain (and very good) doctor for only two days a week. I strongly believe that a good GP surgery should be small and personal, and hate to think that my surgery wishes to deviate from that ideal, as until now they have been superb.
