"A&E Dept needs more doctors"

I arrived in A&E at 6am with what turned out to be AUR Apart from some pain relief (authorised by the doctors) the first doctor I saw was at 11.00 There seemed to be a lot of staff milling about, but a distinct lack of doctors able to deal with me. There were 3 people engaged in tracking the "3 hour rule" There seemed to be a very distinct hiatus around the shift change time 8am The ratio of doctors to nurses/administrators is wrong. Once I got upstairs into Surgery the medical treatment was fast and effective, but the pre-discharge information and advice given by nursing staff on in-dwelling catheter was unhelpful and in some respect wrong The discharge note said I would be referred to TWOC, but that was not done for 2 weeks!
