I had terrible back pain to the extent that I could not move. Because the pain was so severe I called the 111 service for their help. After going through a series of questions I was told that a doctor would call back – which he did after a couple of hours.
The doctor said he would come and see me but that this would take between 3- 6 hours. In the event he came roughly 3 hours later and was able to give me immediate pain relief with an injection. He left a prescription for further pain relief and suggested that I go to A&E if the pain persisted for several days.
(I did need to go to A&E and happened to see the same doctor there but was treated by another doctor).
