"Ambulance took a long time to arrive"

(as a service user),

I called the 111 service on a Monday night at around 10: 00 after my husband fellout of bed. The lady who answered asked me how he had fallen out and whether he was dizzy either when he fell or at the time I called 111. She asked me a lot of other questions but I cannot remember them all.

After all the questions she told me she would send an ambulance round to see my husband.

We expected the ambulance to come round fairly quickly but after waiting for an hour we decided to go to bed. At 1: 45am we were woken up as the ambulance had arrived. The paramedics said it had taken so long as they had not received the message straight away.

The paramedics checked my husband over and said he was fine, no need to go to the hospital. They suggested I should just phone 999 in future.

Apart from the ambulance coming so late I do not have any grievance with the service – everything else was fine.
