"Complications following birth"

After a complicated birth of my first baby and a long recovery (22 weeks after my stitches broke following a episiotomy and various infections that followed)- things just didn't feel right. I couldn't have sex and couldn't use tampax- 13 months after giving birth! I kept discussing the issues with my GP who finally after months of begging referred me to see a gynaecologist. On the day of my appointment I was so relieved- thinking I was to finally get the problems addressed by a professional and put an end to it all. Wrong. The doctor I saw although asking me questions- didn't bother to listen to any of my answers- it felt very- lets tick all the boxes on this form and get her out of here so I can see the next person. When I kept insisting that he listened to what my issues and concerns were and that I wasn't happy just to leave things as they were- he called in his colleague. Well- then it went from bad to worse. His colleague insisted that I just had to deal with the way my body was now as they couldn't do anything to help. I was really distressed and burst into tears- to which they both then reacted in telling my that it seemed I needed counselling. There was no compassion from either of them to actually listen to me and maybe offer some guidance what I could try. Their view was: " come to terms with your body, the scar and just use tampax because clearly the problem is only in your head. "

I left (still crying and frustrated as well as feeling like a 4 year old that had been told off by the headmaster rather then an adult old woman seeking help after trying to deal with health issues by myself for 13 months) and a nurse followed me out into the corridor trying to console me. I was so embarrassed I told her that I just couldn't talk to anyone and stumbled down the stairs.

Really not what I expected. Not sure where to go next as the issues and complications I have experienced in the last 13 months- were definitely not in my head!
