Ashley House has changed my life. The services that I use are my appointments with key worker, pick and mix group, which has been life changing, counseling and vida.
I gave up alcohol five years ago for two years and eight months. I lied about a lot of things. I substituted alcohol for prescription painkillers and over the counter sleeping aids. Then started drinking occasionally but binging, including taking over the counter meds.
Due to a lot of life issues I hit rock bottom and not wanting to live. I then sought help.
I have been without a drink for 14 weeks. I was struggling at first from January, stopping and starting. I was weaned off painkillers and other meds, I would say that's about 12 weeks.
The last 3 weeks I have felt like a new woman. I crave a lot, but have been taught how to handle my addiction, especially though pick and mix.
My key worker is very good as he introduced me to all the services in Ashley House, that are helping my recovery. I work in a school so can only use vida holiday times. They have been very good also.
When I go back to work next week after 6 weeks, they are not going to know the new me.
I have regained some confidence also.
