"Excellent midwives couldn't have been cared for..."

About: North Middlesex Hospital

Anything else?

There are very positive and very negative comments on here abpout the maternity services at North Mid. I could not be happier with my care from both the midwives and the consultant i met on labour ward on her rounds. I was induced as i developed high blood pressure, this is obviously very common at north mid because i was made to feel safe and reassured. I am not saying my labour was easy, as i think every mum will agree! However i was cared for with both compassion and respect. I even tried the pool although the pain was much more... well painful! but with entonox oan lots of encouragement from my midwife ... with a lot of back rubbing too my gorgeous 8lb 10oz Georgia arrived. On the post natal ward the sister and the baby midwife were so kind and explained everything... now at home being looked after by the community midwives who have also been lovely! so 10 out of 10 for the midwives and obstetricians The receptionists really let the hospital down and something needs to be done about their often rude manners, not all though but a few are a few too many! Definately needs a face lift but everyone was very excited about the new build which i think is going to open very soon we watched it being built from the ward! so now just need to make a reservation back at the North Mid for next year in the new birth centre please. Please feel reassured this is a great local hospital to give birth to our precious babies. my husband even got to stay the whole time too. Keep up the good work!

I have read your positive comments relating to the birth of your baby and how the midwives were able to support and reassure you during your delivery. During the birth of a baby a mother needs to have confidence in the midwives providing care and from your comments, both midwives and community nurses will be proud to acknowledge that they have provided a good birthing experience for you. I am glad that you are able to provide us with feedback relating to other aspects of your visit and this feedback will enable the trust to improve on these services. As you mentioned we have a new maternity building opening at the end of November 2013, please feel free to visit and have a look. Head of Midwifery, email: flaird@nhs.net.
