After correct diagnosis of bladder cancer at the Countess of Chester, I was sent for chemo and radiotherapy at Clatterbridge. Since then I have had most excellent follow up including cystoscopy checks (soft and hard), and the treatment I was given appears to have been successful. I was offered the more certain option of invasive surgery, the thought of which I found repugnant, so was very grateful to have been given the choice and to have had the results followed up so well at the Countess. After my last dose of chemo, my system went haywire and on the second day I was rushed to the Countess Emergency in a diabetic coma with 10x the normal blood sugar level. I had never previously shown any indication of diabetes. I then spent 2 very interesting weeks in the Diabetic Unit wards, where my diabetes was successfully brought under control, which now continues just with medication. Again I have been given wonderful follow up checks and advice for my Type 2 diabetes, which I take very seriously, and appreciate. As a result, I have the utmost confidence in The Countess of Chester, and would choose and recommend this hospital to anyone unfortunate enough to require hospital treatment.
