"Staff attitude"

About: Wrightington Hospital

Anything else?

Outpatient staff,a-ray staff,pre.Op.Staff,theatre and recovery ward staff ----brilliant. Ward 5 staff ---another thing alltogather. Some have no empathy and bad attitudes. Confusion over what physio's have instructed to be done and what nursing staff want you to do ie, getting to the toiletand back. One day this led to a bad time forme as I asked to go to the toilet and was told to walk there .I had asked thephysio that morning what I could do and they by commode this led to a very unpleasent incident between me and a H.C.A and a student nurse. This led to me being very upset especially at the attitude of the student.I asked if they would chech and the H.C.A .Came back to me and was good enough to apologise as there had been a mistake made. The student nurse just starting off in her career needs to check with herselfas to her choice of career indevidualized care seemed non existanent with some staff. Not encouraged to ask questions ----I asked one senior member a question appertaining to my care and was told "it's only a word lass ,only a word "with a patronizing tap on my arm.(I am 68 yrs old with 40yrs of nursing behind me ) there where a lot oflittle things I observed in my time as a patient on ward 5which I had witnessed 5yrs previously when I was in that ward I went back this time certain the staff would have moved on to pastures new ,no such luck, they need a shake up ,split up and moved on to other areas it's sad that the good name and reputation of this hospital is beind tainted by a few bad apples
