I have evidence of this from July-Aug 12 and Aug 13. my elderly mother had vital procedures withheld. mum went on to make a very good recovery thanks to other care. she still alive now. Mum had a sore throat from endoscopy the day before, and because she was not swallowing they stopped meds and end of life was started, the rest of the family were then informed, they had decided that it was severe dementia and she had forgotten how to swallow, I had seen her a few days earlier and there was not much sign of dementia. This so call dementia appeared overnight! The next day she was eating, drinking and swallowing ok, this was witnessed by the SALT team and nurses. This then changed their mind, so meds were put back on, the next day they said she was fine and could go home. They hide behind what they call a medical decision, and you cant challenge this.
