Anything else?
After being diagnosed with cancer I was quite apprehensive about visiting this Hospital especially after reading some of the reviews. I must say that I was treated with care and respect throughout my stay. I had to undergo major surgery and spent my recovery in Ocean A. I was placed on an enhanced recovery program which involved getting up and walking shortly after the operation and repeated daily to keep the patient on the move, this helps to prevent chest and bladder infections and DVT. It worked really well and I was home within a week. The staff of this ward worked far in excess of their job description and were often seen still in the ward an hour after shift changeover. The aftercare also continues after my discharge with regular calls from the nursing team to ensure my recovery is continuing. I hope that I don't have to return for further surgery, but if I do , I would ask to be treated by the same nursing staff. The Consultant dealing with my case treated me as though I was a private patient and provided me with all the time I needed to ask any questions and also included me in a research program at UCH where I had further scans which will contribute to my further treatment scheme. (The food could be better)
