I recently(24th august 13) had to go to the urgent care centre. The receptionist and the Triage nurse were great. They explained it would be a 2 hour wait to see a doctor. However what came next was absurd. I was called into room 3 to see a dr. She sat me down and started to ask some questions about my health. She had a pen and was writing my medical information On a paper towel. I told her that I had stopped taking one of my medications because its side effects. Said if you suffer with my complaint stop taking and seek medical advice. Bearing in mind I went with severe pain in my abdomen as well as bleeding. I was told I had piles and to double the dose of the very tablet that I had stopped taking. Is this causing the pain in my stomach I asked. No was the reply. You probably have a bug. I left in just as much agony as I was when I attended. I could not see my own GP until Tues as it was a bank holiday. I suffered until Tues when my own GP examined me and said I had a severely impacted bowel and prescribed a very high dose of laxido which took two days to work but as soon as it did the pain subsided. If I had been given the correct treatment at the urgent care centre my problem would have gone by Monday. And whatever happened to my notes so primitively written on a paper towel. Were they filed in my notes or were they discarded into the bin breaching patient confidentiality. I would like an explanation . Are all Drs using paper towels for their notes.
