"Appointment at 10.40am, seen at 13.10pm"

About: North Manchester General Hospital

Anything else?

I will have to tell you the whole story so that you can understand:- I had a fall due to tripping over something (my own fault, wasn't looking ahead) After two weeks the pain in my foot was getting worse, and traveling up my leg, so I went to see the Doc, he advised I go to what he called "slight injury centre" at Rochdale Infirmary, as it happens there was no such place, it was called the "emergency health care centre" Anyway after a 3hour wait I was given an xray on my foot, and told there was a small fracture on top of my foot, So they told me to attend North Manchester General Hospital fracture clinic at 10.40am. I arrived for my appointment at 10.30am the room was full of people, and people kept coming and going until their was only me left. People arrived for appointments much later than my appointment, but still got seen before me, this continued to happen until there was just me left. I finally got seen at 13.10pm by the doctor (who incidentally didn't seem too happy when he entered the room) and was told that it was a miner fracture and to continue as I have to take pain relief, and elevate as an when I can. I questioned as to why the nurse at Rochdale Infirmary couldn't have told me that as I have waited all this time and travelled a long way just to be told to do what I was already doing? I was then told by the doctor that "He was the Consultant, and a nurse couldn't have told me this" I find it very very hard to believe that the nurse couldn't have made a minor medical decision, for a minor injury!!! To say I was fed up with the whole sequence of events from the Doctors to both hospitals is an understatement!!!!!!
