About: Berwick Infirmary

Anything else?

After a stressful journey to the A+E department one weekend we were greeted by a friendly face at reception. Considering it was half 8 at night we expected to wait a while before being seen however we were in and out within 30 minutes overall. Unfortunately due to the severity of the injury we did have to return as the first treatment given turned out to not be sufficient. On a second trip to the department we arrived an were asked to wait in the waiting room. For a seemingly quiet day the wait did seem a little longer then the previous visit, however we were aware that the nurses were also attending the patients that stayed at this hospital so it was fair. When seen too, the nurse was very friendly and went through all the notes before attending the wound. She was very clean and kept her working area tidy which was a delight to see after some A+E's i have visited. Initially it appeared that there was not a lot she could do to help as it was a few days past the first date but she taken a few more details and found, an albeit somewhat uncomfortable procedure, but nonetheless a procedure that helped and has turned out to be just what i needed. She informed me of what to do after leaving and anything i needed to look out for and advised that if there were any problems i was more then welcome to come back and they would be willing to help.

Dear Sir/Madam I would firstly like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the care you received at Berwick Infirmary. It is so important to all of the staff that our patients experience high quality care that is delivered in a warm and friendly manner and it is good to know that this was your experience. I was also pleased to read about the reassurance you felt when observing the high standards of organisation and cleanliness from the nurse who cared for you too. I know that your comments will mean a great deal to the team and I will ensure that they are forwarded on to them. I do hope that you are feeling much better now. Best Wishes Annie Annie Laverty – Director of Patient Experience
