Anything else?
I was admitted to Short Stay Surgical on 8th August under the doctor for release of a trapped nerve with an overnight stay. From arriving on the Unit all the staff - from the consultant to the lovely Domestic were really friendly and explained what was going to happen using language that I understood. I suffer from some anxiety problems so this was really good. I arrived on the Unit for 7am and went down for my operation just before 11am. I was slightly anxious in the anaesthetic room but was put at my ease, the cannula was inserted into the inside of my wrist and I was soon asleep;. On coming r ound I was in some pain but I was given adequate pain relief and also some oxygen as my levels were a little bit low. I was not returned to the Unit until I was pain free and my oxygen levels had gone up. For the rest of the day and over night the staff were constantly monitoring me and very quick with pain relief when I asked for it. Plenty of cups of tea during the afternoon and evening but didn't like to ask during the night and no machine anywhere near the Unit to be able to buy 1. The following morning I was taken to the Discharge Lounge prior to being discharged home and once again the staff were lovely. Another good thing about Short Stay Surgical was that I was able to take my regular pain relief that I take at home so I knew exactly what I was taking - along with all my other medication. A big thank you to every single person who was involved in my stay in any capacity at all - you are all stars!!
