"Tameside Hospital - Maternity Department"

About: Tameside General Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was booked in to be induced. My first pessary was put in 15 mins after arrival and I was made to feel welcome and at home. After trying 2 pessaries and nothing was happening we were taken up to ward 27 for the night, all the women who had dealt with me in the day made me feel safe and informed.

Ward 27 was immaculate. The women were friendly and helpful. Throughout the night me and baby had plenty of OBS done, again making me feel safe. I was allowed to ring my partner to feel comforted, I was never restricted to my room. Unfortunately I was still only 2 cm dilated for a long time. The midwives were friendly and kept me informed on the current circumstances due to my health and why they weren't going to attempt another pessary.

At 7pm I had my waters broken and went on a drip, at 2am Monday I was taken for an emergency C section. Doctors did a brilliant job and we were presented with a healthy baby girl!

MASSIVE thank you to all midwives, all woman on ward 27, surgeons and anesthetists and chefs in Tameside Hospital on dates 17th-22nd August 2013. I honestly had the best time! Keep up the brilliant work you're doing.
