"Twice in a few months!!"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

I had to bring my son into the A&E department of Medway Hospital twice at the beginning of this year. The downsides were that at the time we came in (around 6am) the paediatric waiting area was not open so trying to occupy our 18 month old while waiting was easier said than done. We did have to wait probably around 2 hours both times (not too bad on the grand scheme of things) but waiting behind that line to see the triage nurse, then again to book in with reception felt a little back to front and was a bit frustrating standing around. Despite all that it was clean, the staff were very friendly and reassuring and I did appreciate how busy they were behind the scenes with people arriving by ambulance etc. Once we were seen by someone who could treat my son we were out again very quickly which was great.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate the points you make and you will be pleased to hear that the yellow line at the emergency department reception will be removed very soon. We are looking at processes throughout the department to improve the patient experience. I'm pleased to hear you found staff friendly and reassuring and that the treatment process was swift. I do hope your son is now doing well. All the best Inma Diza Clinical Nurse Lead - Emergency Department
