"Cancelled bunion operation"

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was telephoned at 1-45 by the Day Care Unit to ensure I was ok for my operation the following afternoon.

At 4-45 I was telephoned by Patient Services to say Mr Darcy (my Consultant) had a more pressing operation tomorrow.

I am already 4weeks over the target time of 18 weeks. Back in January 2013 I had my left foot operated on. I got anxious then as it was 4-00pm and I didn't think I would get my operation done. The nurse told me they operate all day and all night and I would have the op, which I did on that occasion.

So why couldn't Mr Darcy operate later tomorrow?

The Trust would offer the patient apologies for the delay. Following contact with our PALS a new date has been offered.
