Anything else?
I was most concerned that a 4 month old baby was allowed to visit it's great grandmother in the trauma ward (32)on two occasions this month to my knowledge, where it was laid on the bed and screamed long and loudly causing great distress to my elderly relative in the bed opposite. When I asked the staff why such a small infant was allowed onto the ward I was told it was more than their job was worth to say anything - surely not? No child of that age should be exposed to the germs in a busy surgical ward anyway - what happened to the good old rule that no child under 2 should accompany visitors. Does no one have the authority to monitor the suitablilty of visitors for the patient's benefit?
