I attended Basildon's newly revamped A&E department on a Friday night and expected long waits and crowds of people. Couldn't have been further from the truth. I saw an assessment nurse immediately, she was lovely. I had trodden on a thick sewing needle at home, it had snapped in half in my foot and an x-ray (really great staff too) showed that the other half was imbedded deep into my foot. I had surgery the following day and was discharged that evening. Every member of staff that helped me were outstanding, from the porter to the consultant they were all wonderful. I have always paid for private healthcare but the urgent care I received at Basildon Hospital was superior to any of my experiences at private hospitals. Nothing was forgotten and the whole process was very swift and personable. A very big thank you to all the nursing staff on Bulphan Ward and in A&E.
