What I liked
I was admitted to Ward 6 at the HRI as an emergency at midnight on the Sunday 27 th April 2008.
I was made comfortable as I had acute abdominal pain. I had already had an x ray whilst in A & E.
The ward's medical team came to see me at 9am and recommended a CT scan.
I was taken for the scan at 11 am.
By 2:15pm in the afternoon, I was seen by one of the surgeons.
At 3:15pm, I was taken for sugery on the third floor.
I was back in the ward by 7:15pm.
I cannot praise to highly, the treatment and care I received over the following 8 days.
All of the staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. I was even provided with razor blades and shaving cream as I had left them in my haste to get to hospital.
I was discharged on the 5th May 2008.
Every member of staff connected with Ward 6 were dedicated, true professionals.
What could be improved
My only minor complaint, was the level of noise at certain times. Some of the visitors could have been much quieter. I don't think some of them realised that there were some very poorly patients in various parts of the ward.
Perhaps a sign informing visitors to be quiet at all times would be helpful.
