I have found the treatment in the Opthamology Department of the East Surrey Hospital really excellent. Firstly in the Outpatients Department and then the Lucentis treatment itself. , which is ongoing.
I have a small criticism and that concerns communication. I do appreciate that the Consultant has only limited time for each patient but I came away from my Consulltation wishing I had been given more information about the treatment I was to receive (Lucentis injections) and the possible outcomes. Perhaps a leaflet would be useful.
Also, after my first Lucentis injection, I would have appreiated a 'Going Home after Lucentis' leaflet. What to expect in the way of eye discomfort (it feels like there is something in your eye), and the strange black discs that appeared for a few days after one of the jabs. And if there is any pain, is it safe to take your usual pain relief?
Overall though, I have nothing but praise for the Opthamology Department.
