I was referred by my GP to Milton Keynes Hospital's Department of Breast and General Surgery for a breast cancer risk assessment after atypical lobular hyperplasia was discovered during an operation at a different hospital. The medical staff at the other hospital would not explain to me my risk of breast cancer even when I requested it in writing. The consultant at Milton Keynes Hospital explained the risk using precise terms, which was what I was seeking. He also discussed the various risk-reducing options and their suitability and answered other questions which I raised. He treated me as a competent and understandably concerned adult, which was a very pleasant change after my experience at the other hospital where I was treated as an administrative inconvenience. I would have no hesitation in recommending Milton Keynes Hospital's Department of Breast and General Surgery. Another patient I spoke to in the waiting area on the day of my appointment was similarly complimentary about the consultant.
