"very poor treatment by doctor at a & e"

About: Salford Royal

Anything else?

Arrived by ambulance, the ambulance crew were fantastic. After waiting for over 3 hours at a & e was finally seen by a doctor after having 2 xrays for l foot and wrist. Doc looked at xrays and sais there was no fracture in either even though I was in complete agony. He then said he would take another look at xray and then came back saying I have fractured my foot but no my wrist, he then walked off and the nurse bandaged my foot. I was then told to use crutches, but could only use one because I was in agony with my wrist which the nurse said was just bruising. She then nonchalantley asked if I needed a wheelchair (obviously) and took me to book appoitment for fracture clinic which was 2 days later. At the fracture clinic was then told I had fractured my wrist aswell! No wonder I have been in complete agony after trying to use crutches with a fracture. The doc at a and e didn't seem to know what he was doing and couldn't even tell what bone I had fractured! Not happy!

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry to read that you were unhappy with your visit to our Emergency Department. We would welcome the chance to investigate these concerns and I would encourage you to contact our PALS department (pals@srft.nhs.uk) who can advise further on how we can do this.
