Pre-op l I was shown to my bed, the nurse checked all my details, and the anaesthetist came to chat to me and explain what was going to be done. The surgeon arrived and explained the procedure and I went down to Theatre shortly after that. Immediate Post-op care was very good, until it was time for me to be discharged. .Leading up to 3pm. it was obvious that the department was closing down for the day and I was taken down to the waiting area in Reception, and left there to wait for my lift home. None of the staff on Reception were told I was there, and were obviously not aware that I had had a General Anaesthetic earlier that day. Yet, I had been previously advised not to be on my own for 24 hours after anaesthetic. The follow up appointment was a joke....2 weeks post op and all I was there for was a dressing change! I'd had numerous dressing changes at home, and its a good job I didn't wait for the hospital one, because it would have been a disgusting mess! I eventually got to see the Consultant, 2 months post-op. He asked why I hadn't seen him earlier, and I explained that his staff had made a dressing appointment instead of a post-op appointment. I am still in excrutiating pain on a daily basis. I was booked for an MRI scan today, which was cancelled yesterday because I apparently hadn't rung to confirm the appointment. Yet another mess up by Halton, because I had confirmed by phone, the day after receiving the appointment. This means I now have to wait for yet another letter giving me another date for my scan. I am in a great deal of pain, but nobody seems to be bothered.
