"Doctor missed a diagnosis"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

My doctor has ignored all information I have given with the same complaint over the last 2 and a half years.

I now have a diagnosis from the hospital of a medical condition I will have to live with. Without my persistence, this hospital diagnosis would not have happened. It may have been discovered in a post-mortem.

How do less persistent people manage this?

And, please get rid of this expensive TRAQS system which duplicates and complicates processes.

Thank you for responding to our request for feedback.

I am disappointed to read of your experience however I am sure you appreciate that TRAQS cannot comment on your experience with your GP practice.

TRAQS was created in June 2012 at the request of the local GP's in the Telford and Wrekin area to ensure patients are offered a Choice of provider/hospital in line with the NHS Patient Charter. Previously patients may have been referred to the nearest hospital without being offered a Choice. As y0ou may be aware, our local hospitals are currently experiencing capacity issues which means that patients wishing to attend a local hospital may have to wait a long time for an appointment. TRAQS is able to offer patients a Choice, in fact patient's can choose to attend any NHS hospital in England if they wish and the TRAQS team are happy to discuss the patient's request on an individual basis.

The TRAQS service is still developing further and our main aim is to provide a quality, patient focused service for patients who are registered with a Telford and Wrekin GP practice.

Thank you again for taking the time to comment. TRAQS note all comments as they help us to develop the service further for the benefit of the patients.
