We arrived at 4:00am Approx,my friend had woken when not being able to breath. I took her straight to A&E where within 2 minutes she was rushed into the main Dept, as we entered there were 2 Doctors ready to check her. After a quick check she was moved straight to Resuscitation, where 2 nurses and a Staff Nurse started to try and find out what had caused the swelling of her tonge. After initial tests it was still not evident what had caused the swelling.Steroids and Anti-histamine were infused, which after some 10-15 minutes started to work! Further blood tests were taken. After the initial test they still checked to try and pinpoint the trigger. It transpired that the reaction was cause by one of the tablets she had been taking for a good few years. The head of the Department (who's name I did not take) came and explained what they think had caused the Anaphylactic shock. It was a known side effect of a very normally used hyper tension control product, but was very rare.after 5-6 hours she was told that they had got it under control and with steroid tablets it could be controlled and would not give further trouble. This is what 2 OAP's call terrific service, and nobody could have asked for.
