I have been an avid supporter of the hospital since moving to Lydney 11 years ago, however, two days ago my 17 month old daughter caught herself on our iron and burnt her hand. Our immediate reaction was to take her to lydney hospital, when we arrived around 7am I buzzed the intercom and a crackling noise came through with a faint voice which asked what the matter was I explained about my daughter and through the crackling the woman informed me that we could not be seen and would need to drive to Gloucester. After a 40 minute drive with my poor daughter screaming in agony, Gloucester saw us straight away and we then received the same hasty treatment at Frenchay burns unit - both hospitals were disgusted that no one would even see my daughter for a dressing to ease the pain. I can safely say I will no longer be fund raising for lydney hospital as this is the second time I've seen them turn a sick or injured child away.
