I had stomach pains which started on Sunday 21-07-13 at 2300 approx - by midnight through to 0230 am I was suffering from severe diarrhoea and vomiting and pains in my stomache had got so severe I did not know what to do. A neighbour called a ambulance and the paramedics stabilised me. I was taken to Redbridge Hospital A and E. [please do not close it!] I cannot praise the medical and non medical staff too highly. I was processed and medically assessed and vomiting and diarhoea stopped and I was discharged on Monday at just after lunch as the stomache pains had ceased.... and I returned home and I was set up for outpatients appointment. For a week everything proceeeded well - no pains - no diarrhoea - no vomiting - then on Monday at 0320 am in the morning I had stomach pains again - but - no vomiting - and no diarrhoea - so I elected to use my GP - which opens at 0800 am in morning - I had my appointment with my GP who prescribed for me and needed hospoital to do a scan so I collected my prescription and promied to go back to hospital that monday afternoon to set up the scan appointment. When I got back home at 0930 I had got a lot worse and was bleeding badly now when I went to toilet. I went back to hospital - I was admitted immediately through A and E and medically assessed and then had a stay of four days over which I got a lot better. By the time I was discharged I was a lot better. I am very grateful and extend my greatest thanks to the medical and also non-medical staff for taking care of me [the pain was particularly worrying as I am elederly and have had two bouts of shingles in the past (one after the other - which even shocked my GP) and the stomach pains were as severe as that. I was in A and E and the medical assessment unit and heather ward and the staff are working non-stop 24/7 on long shifts and bed occupancy was close to 100 per cent for the duration of my stay and a bed was opnly empty perhaps for a hour at most! The fact that the staff were so busy did not mean that they neglected patients and their good humour and conversation contributed a great deal to reducing anxiety and making a recovery pleasant. Very impressed with the hospital over my four day stay. Thanks again to the hospital for taking care of me.
