"My Mother was in hospital from ..."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus

(as a relative),

What I liked

My Mother was in hospital from March to April this year and the care she received when admitted to a ward was good

What could be improved

I have to agree with everything Michael has said. When my Mum was admitted to emergency admissions it was horrible to have to leave her there even for a short time. It felt like being in a bus station with everyone coming and going. At 81 years of age it is quite frightening. Emergency admissions needs to be refurbished, be more welcoming and cleaner. The food trolley being brought round didn't make the food look very appetising. More staff are required to cope with admissions.

Our Emergency Admissions Unit at Nottingham City Hospital campus has been extremely busy in recent months. However, regardless of how busy the unit is, our priority is always to ensure patients get a bed and are monitored and diagnosed as quickly as possible. From there we can assess whether it is necessary for the patient to be admitted to hospital or whether further tests are required to diagnose their condition.

To meet capacity we have recently transformed a clinic room into an additional waiting area to make the stay as comfortable as possible for our patients until a bed is available on the unit. The Emergency Admission Unit is a short stay unit. We are sorry to hear about your concerns regarding cleanliness and the food, however would be happy to look into these further if you could get in touch with us or write to us at Trust Headquarters, Queen’s Medical Centre campus, Derby Road, Nottingham.
