"Big new hospital with very poor service"

About: Manor Hospital

Anything else?

If you need to take anyone to A&E, don't. Phone for an ambulance instead, pull up outside A&E and you risk getting wheel clamped. That there is no 'Drop off Zone' is madness in the extreme. The wheel chairs are too big to go through doors into the Doctors assessment room. I sat with my wife 2 1/2 hours waiting for chemotherapy, only to be sent home because "We don't have any to give her' This despite having an appointment. I asked for a wheelchair at the discharge lounge, I was told, "Have a look around, see if you can find one" Waited 5 hours for the prescription, gave up, went home, they sent them in a taxi, 24 hours later. I think the place is a disgrace.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a response. I do apologise for the inconvenience you experienced in the Accident and Emergency Department recently. I can assure you that in respect of dropping off outside of the A and E department the Trust does not currently, nor never has, wheel clamped patient/relatives/visitors cars. We do appreciate that from time to time there is insufficient wheelchairs available around the hospital site. To mitigate this the Trust will be investing in a further 40 wheelchairs which will have a token system to support people returning to the point they were taken from. The A&E department itself is likely to be undergoing refurbishment works in the near future in order that we can improve the patient journey. Once again many apologies for the inconvenience caused during your recent visit, If you would like to speak to somebody about your recent visit, please contact our Patient Relations department on 01922 656463.
