"Mixed experiences at Queen Elizabeth Hospital"

About: Fermoy Unit The Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I feel the A&E at this hospital is lacking. I went there with chest pains and shortness of breath but was patronised by the triage nurse as to why I didn't wait to see my GP. I haven't met such patronising and rude staff anywhere.

I couldn't make a appointment with my GP until 4 weeks time yet I took myself to the hospital anyway.

The mental health services are lacking here too, especially the new wellbeing service which is in the Fermoy unit and is so depressing as you're speaking to the receptionist behind a glass screen. So not the most welcoming environment for your first therapy session.

Some staff in café don't even smile and are rude.

On a good note the GUM clinic is fantastic and the staff are so friendly and clean. The rest of the hospital should take notes from them on customer service.
