"nurses are really kind and professional"

About: South Tyneside District Hospital

Anything else?

I've had to attend the a &e dept several times with biliary colic caused by gallstones. It was missed by several doctors however last visit i landed a really good doctor who ordered an ultrasound which finally showed up why i kept having pain attacks. The doctor made me very comfortable with pain meds and the nurses were very understanding. I had to go back on 16/07/13 again due to a pain attack and was seen in a&e in a timely manner, made comfortable and admitted to ward 3. Every nurse on ward3 was friendly, down to earth and professional. I would have given top marks had my gallstones been diagnosed sooner ( ive now come to realise i had classic symptoms) but we got there in the end. Thank you to the surgeon on ward3 who has arranged for me to get my gallbladder out in 6 weeks- the time cant come quick enough and i have no hesitations about returning. Just a final but important point- i found cleanliness impeccable; i vomited several times anf noted nurses thoroughly cleaning room top to bottom when i changed room. Every single person who came in sanitised their hands immediatley even when rushing ( i do have a habit of noting things like that!)
