About: University Hospital Aintree

Anything else?

My mum went to hospital 8 weeks ago and had emergency surgery on her unknown cancerous blocked bowel. She was in critical care for nearly 3 wks fighting for life. She came through and so far as had at least 10 infections to count.... Then got diagnosed with cancer again 20 years after battling through it with radiotheraphy. To my point........ My mum might not survive chemo but anyone who says nurses or staff don't care are wrong! My mum has been on 5 wards and cries leaving each one. It's not easy for anyone but the staff from top to bottom are the best... So I sit here now just after leaving another visit after meeting new ward (24) staff and hoping now chemo can offer her a future... We all live in hope. My mum is thin, pale and just had life saving work done on her. She has more than 6/7 medical conditions all at once but is still having a go. She won't stop because I am 30 and still her baby. Chemo next and my rant is getting off my point... 1. The staff are great and have more than cared for her. 2. Under staffing does not mean staff do not care... They can't be everywhere. 3. The big one .... I am due to fly to turkey tomorrow for 2 weeks and will miss the start of the chemo.. If I don't go she won't speak me ever again, if I do go will the outcome be the same.... after 8 weeks of going the hospital every day nearly I can't listen to people giving abuse to staff. Just think if your in a and e for 5 hours its because doctors/surgeons/nurses are saving lives like my poor little mum..

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such kind comments about the care your mum has received. We'll pass them onto our staff. If you want to try to Skype your mum while your on the holiday then please contact customer services at customerservice@aintree.nhs.uk and we'll try to arrange that.
