"too my three year old to see his ..."

About: Russells Hall Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

too my three year old to see his paediatrician yesterday morning at Russells Hall.

We had a 11am appointment and arrived at 11.02 as my son being autistic has problems waiting and does not like busy surroundings.

Booking in at the desk was very prompt and Joab began playing with the toys available.

Unforunately, after approx 10 minutes, the waiting room became busier and Joab could not cope with the environment. He became very upset and frightened of the surroundings.

I asked staff if there was a long waiting time, to be told we should expect to wait another 1 hr 40 mins to 2 hours to be seen!!!!

This would have been 2 hours later than our allocated appointment time!!

How can any child be expected to wait this length of time? Particularly an autistic child???

We left the hospital having seen no one as he became more upset which was unfiar on him and others waiting.

Very disappointed with the service and have requested another hospital form my GP.

What could be improved

Having appointment times that count for anything!

Don't mind waiting but 2 hours with an autistic is impossible!!!
