"Poor care"

The staff appear very poorly trained. There doesn't seem to be information for patients or relatives.

The hygience seems to be poor.

The staff who come round hours later to fill in fluid charts then asked me what I drank 8 hours earlier.

Dear discustedpatient – thank you for taking the time and trouble to post details of your experience of at Frenchay Hospital; I am sorry that you felt that your care and the cleanliness of the ward were poor. At North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) we take patient comfort and safety very seriously, and if you would be happy to share more details of your experience, and/or your personal details, I would be happy to investigate your concerns in more detail. The NHS complaints process is designed to ensure that we (NBT) can learn lessons from any situation where patients, or their relatives, have not been completely satisfied with any aspect of their care. This then allows us to try to constantly improve our services and so any further feedback you can offer in this respect would be appreciated.

We recognise the accommodation at Frenchay is tired and no longer fit for purpose, which is why the new Hospital at Southmead is being built. Even so hygiene is a top priority across the Trust and cleaning is undertaken to set standards, and additional cleaning will be initiated if the regular inspections identify any problem.
