"Superb treatment at Warwick Hospital"

About: Warwick Hospital

Anything else?

Having recently been taken ill I was required to make an emergency call whilst transiting through the Warwickshire area. Now at home making a recovery I thought I would write to you to express my appreciation to all the South Warwickshire National Health Service staff that treated me during my illness. The staff from the emergency service operator who took my call to the hospital staff at the Warwick hospital where nothing short of superb. The operator not only reassured me until the ambulance staff arrived but also kept on the phone to ensure I was safe at all times. On arrival of the ambulance staff they quickly assessed me but also surpassed themselves to ensure my car was safe at the Service station and not issued a parking ticket and the paramedic even came to see me during my 5 day stay at the hospital to check my recovery. At the hospital A&E department I was seen very quickly, given the necessary treatment and although I wasn’t really in a fit state to remember much about it, I was soon transferred to the Fairfax Ward. In the Fairfax Ward the professionalism and compassion that I received from both the nurses and doctors on duty was tremendous. At every stage of my treatment a member of staff would explain the process and this was followed up by a full explanation of the results by the junior doctor on call. Unfortunately I cannot recall her name but she was absolutely brilliant and although obviously very busy, took time to make sure my treatment would rival any received in the private sector, even coming to see me once I had been transferred to another ward to ensure I was OK. After the first night I was transferred to the Victoria Ward and stayed there for an additional 4 nights receiving the same standard of treatment that I had previously been given. The nurses worked persistently to provide the best service to patients that at times could be described at difficult at best and maintained a cheerful demeanour at all times. Although I have carried out many duties that would be deemed unsavoury during my RAF career, the tasks your staff perform on a daily basis, in an overstretched and difficult environment make me extremely humble in comparison. The numerous doctors ran various tests to identify the cause of my illness and kept me fully informed at all times. Having spent over 25 years within the Royal Air Force I have had very little contact with the NHS and in a time when the NHS always seems to be under scrutiny and receives lots of bad press, I would again like to pass on my humble appreciation for the treatment I received during my confinement from every of the hospital staff. From the tireless porters, the fastidious cleaners, the extremely caring nurses, the totally professional doctors, physiotherapists, ambulance staff and emergency operator and every other member of staff that assisted me during my stay, the South Warwickshire NHS should be exceedingly proud of all their efforts and outstandingly caring attitude.
