"A&E service"

About: Harrogate District Hospital

Anything else?

Not happy after being sent by my doctor who had phoned the dept beforehand, armed with letter, only to be triaged then left unattended for 4 hours before being sent to a ward for the examination I needed. A fundamental flaw in the system that uses a busy department when surely going straight to a ward or x-ray would be much better for all concerned .

Thank you for your feedback, which is greatly appreciated. I am sorry that you felt our service did not live up to the high standards that we expect. We work actively with GPs and other healthcare colleagues to ensure that patients are directed to the correct service, in order to avoid undue waits. A&E can become very busy and this will, unfortunately, result in some patients waiting to be seen following triage, as the Department has to prioritise those with the most urgent clinical needs. I am unable to comment in detail on your specific case, but if you would like us to look into what happened and provide you with a more detailed response, please contact our Patient Experience Team on (01423) 555499 or email thepatientexperienceteam@hdft.nhs.uk Thank you again for taking the time to contact us.
