My wife and I had the recent fortune to bring our baby daughter into the world at East Surrey Hospital. We chose the hospital as it was had been recommended to us, and we had also visited the unit for a tour of the facilities. The whole Birthing Unit set-up at East Surrey is superb – it has recently had 3 new birth suites added with birth pools too. It resembles more of a spa that a perceived birthing suite.
The midwives who run the unit are all fantastic and make the entire process as comfortable as possible. We were very fortunate to have a midwife called Becky who was brilliant and looked after my wife during her contractions and eventual birth. Becky and her colleagues put our minds at rest (being first time parents, we were naturally quite green), and kept us calm, collected and focussed.
We were fortunate enough to have a reasonably straightforward birth, and we found the midwives and all support staff to be extremely caring, courteous, helpful and professional at all times. They really are an absolute credit to there profession.
If and when we have a second child, I would not think twice about going back to East Surrey Hospital – and I would highly recommend it anyone who is expecting or planning on a family in the future.
