Anything else?
My Mum who is almost 88 years old, registered blind was admitted as an emergency to hospital Sat afternoon with a badly fractured hip. There was a possibility that she could be operated on that night, so her usual medication (BP, diabetic etc) was not administered. By 6.30pm told that op would not take place but would be done on Sunday. We have now got to Mon evening and as they have run out of time operation has still not happened. She is in excruciating pain, especially when she has to use toilet pan and then frequent bedlinen changes. She is going to be prepared again for surgery tonight so I really hope and pray the op goes ahead early morning and that it is successful. It is very distressing for the patient and relatives to see and hear someone in so much pain. Think animals get better treatment. If this is progress in the NHS perhaps privatising might be the way forward!
