After an 8 hour wait on the De L Mare Ward my husbands operation was cancelled - due to a power cut that had occurred at 3pm. Although the power had been restored apparently this still posed a risk as it could go off again. A risk that I am sure that take every day of the week. Never mind the inconvenience to the patient, family and employers. So looking forward to the next visit - when ever that might be!!!

Thank you for your adding your comment to our NHS Choices page. We’d like to sincerely apologise for the postponement of your husbands operation yesterday, due to the unexpected major power failure. Although this occurred outside St Albans City Hospital, it had a serious impact on the hospital site. The Trust worked closely with the local electricity company to urgently rectify the problem, and we are now pleased to confirm that all postponed operations from yesterday are now being re-booked for as soon as possible. If you have any further queries, please contact the De La Mare ward directly.
